My name is Sarah and my husband is called Steve. We used to live in a small village in Sussex. I could not drive and there was no public transport - only Steve could get around as he rode a motorbike. I was very reluctant to walk anywhere and relied heavily on friends and family, although they were not around all the time. If I needed anything I had to walk to our local store, the long walk had beautiful scenery but it was so quiet my daughters used to fall asleep in the pram and I would be left talking to myself. I passed lots of people walking with dogs and thought maybe if we got a furry friend it would break the silence and add some excitement to our walks and we would have a companion.

After a lot of long discussions and deep thought, we decided a dog would be a valuable addition to our family, we researched into many breeds but found it difficult to find one that really appealed to us.

After more lengthy discussions and as a result of our research we decided that an Akita bitch would be an asset to our family and so the hunt for a respectable breeder began.

The long and hard work has really paid off as we found Danti Akitas and found our perfect girl Danti's Foxy Lady. (Roxy) Roxy has been an inspiration to our family and we have learnt so much form her, she is the foundation of Rokushii Akitas and without her we would not exist.

THE TWO TYPES OF AKITA'S ARE NOW RECOGNISED AS TWO SEPERATE BREEDS. BOTH MY GIRLS ARE KNOWN AS THE "AMERICAN AKITA" OR "THE GREAT JAPANESE DOG". For more information about the breed split click here
